Hello again my lion friends!
Thank you for your support of our book fair. We met our goal again this year, our
teachers received many new books because of your generosity and I believe many of our lions ended up with some new spring break reading material.
We are quickly closing out this school year and that means I will be saying good bye to you as your PTA president. I'm not going far though as all four of my lion cubs will be here at Mason next school year.
It does mean that many of our board members will be moving on and we are looking for fabulous parents and grandparents to continue to support our lions through the PTA. We have lots of activities perfect for every type of parent whether you work at home or away from home.
Please seriously consider lending out your talent or time. Our lions have been graced with many opportunities because you support them with fundraisers and events but these don't happen by themselves so we need your help.
You will be getting a flier home asking for your talent and time. Please fill it out and send it in. Lend us your three hours a little at a time or all at once. Show your children by example how you volunteer and watch them find their own ways to lend a hand in this world.

Dear Lion Parents,
We are very grateful that we have such hard working students and families here at Mason! However, we need to remind the families that we rarely see that WE NEED YOU TOO! There are many things that we wish to accomplish at Mason for our children. There are several events that we could really use your support with. Mason Clean up day on March 15th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is a time when we do our spring cleaning and beautify our school. We really need all Hands on Deck for this event.
Teachers will be able to discuss the Common Core National Standards with you (see our website) at parent conferences which are scheduled for the week of March 24th .We will have a 12:15 dismissal time Monday through Friday. It is critical that your children are picked up on time and that parents attend conferences as requested by the teachers.
Thank you to the parents who are teaching their children to follow the traffic rules. This helps ensure the safety of our children. Parents who continue to ignore these rules put all of our children at risk. Please use the crosswalks and honor our no parking and drop off zones. Remember, our "children listen to what we say...but they watch what we do."
We begin spring vacation on MONDAY MARCH 31st and we are on vacation until -April 25th. School will resume Monday, April 28th. During our break, students are still expected to read and practice their number facts. Encourage your children to participate in learning activities when school is not in session. Here are some suggestions:

Dear Lion Scholars,
I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and you are ready to practice honesty.
What Is Honesty?
When people are honest, they can be relied on not to lie, cheat, or steal.
Honesty is telling the truth no matter what. It is being truthful even when admitting the truth could make someone disappointed.
Being honest means you don't make false promises. You do what you said you would do.
Make sure that you continue to show self control by keeping your hands and feet to yourself.
